A sweet and delicious holiday appetizer.
I was mind blown by this Easy Pecan Pie Dip. I make a lot of recipes in my test kitchen and this one blew me away. It has all of the flavors of pecan pie but without spending so much time making a homemade pecan pie.
The ooey gooey caramel pecan sauce paired with a simple cheesecake filling made with whipped cream and cream cheese filling is insanely good.
I was inspired by the super talented Lady Kay on TikTok (big shout out to her!) and when I saw her pecan pie dip, I knew I had to figure out how to make my own. You are going to love this sweet dip!
Why you will love this Pecan Pie Dip:
- This caramel pecan sauce is heavenly! It is perfectly ooey gooey and has the best flavor.
- The cream cheese and whipped cream filling is so simple but the creamy dip pairs so well with the buttery caramel pecan.
- This is such a popular dip to bring to parties! Everyone will love this sweet dip.
Pecan Pie Cheesecake Dip Ingredients:
It is so simple to make this easy Pecan Pie Dip. All you need is 8 ingredients!
- Butter — I suggest using salted butter to offset the sweetness of the brown sugar and Karo syrup. If you use unsalted butter, add 1/4 teaspoon salt.
- Brown Sugar — use packed light brown sugar.
- Light Karo Syrup — this helps to make the perfect caramel pecan sauce. Use light Karo syrup also known as corn syrup.
- Pecans — I prefer using whole pecans but you can use chopped pecans to have more pecans in every bite.
- Vanilla Extract — use high-quality vanilla extract to make the caramel pecan sauce.
- Cream Cheese — use softened, room temperature cream cheese for the optional whipping.
- Heavy Cream — this can be whipped and then lightly folded in to the cream cheese mixture.
- Powdered Sugar — this adds sweetness to the cream cheese filling. If you like it to be sweeter, add 2 Tablespoons more.
How to make Cream Cheese Pecan Pie Dip:
Here is all of the instructions including photos of how to make the easy pecan pie dip. Scroll to the bottom of the page to find the recipe card.
- Add the softened cream cheese to a mixing bowl. Whip for 3-4 minutes or until light and fluffy. Scrape the sides and the bottom of the bowl twice to ensure there aren’t any clumps. Add in powdered sugar and whip for 1 minute longer.
- In a bowl, whip the heavy cream to stiff peaks. Carefully fold into the cream cheese mixture. Cover and place in the refrigerator to chill for 1-2 hours.
- In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Add brown sugar and Karo syrup. After everything is melted together, add pecans. Let cook for about 3-4 minutes until it is lightly simmering. Add vanilla extract.
- Set aside to come to room temperature, about 15-20 minutes. The caramel pecan sauce will stiffen as it cools.
- Spread the cream cheese whipped cream mixture on a plate. Top with caramel pecan sauce (make sure it isn’t too hot).
- Serve with fresh apple slices, butter waffle cookies (Trader Joe’s), graham crackers, Biscoff cookies, crackers, or French bread slices.
Tip:
Chill the cream cheese whipped cream mixture before spreading on the plate.
Substitutions and Variations:
You can use white sugar instead of brown sugar to make the caramel pecan sauce.
You can use whole pecans or chopped pecans, depending on preference.

Making Ahead and Storing:

I made this for our church lunch potluck today. It was delicious, but unfortunately from the time I put the pecan sauce on the cream cheese base to 2 hours later when it was served, the pecan filling had completely solidified over the cream cheese base making it difficult to self portion. It was still delicious and so flavorful, but I won’t be making it for a potluck again. It is best served soon after pouring the pecan sauce on the base.
I had a couple of people ask for the recipe, though. Thank you for this fun, festive recipe!
Would I be able to make this the night before for a church potluck?
Thank you for this delicious looking recipe!
Hi Lise! This is a great dip to make ahead of time. The sweet cream cheese filling can be made up to 2 days in advance and just kept covered in the refrigerator. The caramel pecan can be made ahead, but I would recommend storing separately and reheating the day off to add to the cream cheese filling! I hope you enjoy!
Delicious recipe!
Just brought this to a holiday party and it was such a big hit. Very easy to make and serves a lot of people for an appetizer. Used granny smith apples, graham crackers, cinnamon mini cookies and baguette. Great recipe
I honestly have no words!!! I can’t describe how good this dip is! I used it for pie on TG….but the next day I dipped APPLES! Absolutely amazing. I had to have my husband hide it so I wouldn’t eat the entire pan! Ha
How do u store left overs
Hi! Just cover and place in the refrigerator. I do suggest using plastic wrap rather than foil since the foil sticks to the caramel. If you only have foil, just lightly spray with non-stick cooking spray to keep it from sticking to the caramel. I hope that helps!
I would like to know if pecan sauce gets too hard, what do I do?
I’m going to try this. I love sweet ๐ pies like this. Yummy!
