Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe for Two
A quick and easy 15-minute start to finish chocolate chip cookie recipe for two people. This small-batch cookie recipe yields 2 to 3 cookies so perfect when you are craving cookies but don’t want to make a big batch.
Let’s say it is 10:00 pm at night and you have a massive chocolate chip cookie craving but you don’t want to even think about baking an entire batch of 2 dozen cookies. I have the perfect solution for you — the ultimate Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe for two. This recipe makes 2 to 3 chocolate chip cookies which are absolutely perfect when you just want a couple of cookies.
Now, this could be a single serving chocolate chip cookie recipe too because you may want two cookies and that is just fabulous! I just love that it is a small-batch chocolate chip cookie recipe and is literally made in 15 minutes start to finish!
This chocolate chip cookie recipe for two people is made with butter, brown sugar, sugar, egg yolk, vanilla, flour, baking soda, and chocolate chips. It is whipped up in one bowl and literally takes only a few minutes to throw in the ingredients. It makes warm, chewy chocolate chip cookies with crisp edges and lots of chocolate!
Last night after date night, I came home and my husband and I were craving some chocolate chip cookies. I didn’t want to go through the hassle of making an entire batch so I just whipped up this small batch and he was so surprised how fast we could make homemade single-serving chocolate chip cookies.
How to make the Best Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe for Two Servings:
- Start by melting butter in the microwave — just until barely melted. You don’t want it to be boiling so I suggest about 30 seconds. Stir in brown sugar, and sugar and mix well until completely combined and smooth. This is an important step as you want the warm butter to dissolve the sugars so take your time with this step.
- Add in one egg yolk and vanilla. Since this is a small recipe, we are only using an egg yolk instead of an entire egg. It helps to create a chewy texture.
- Stir in flour and baking soda. If using salted butter, you don’t have to add extra salt but if you are using unsalted butter, add a pinch of salt for flavor.
- Fold in your favorite type of chocolate chips — milk chocolate, semi-sweet chocolate, or dark chocolate or a combination. My favorite types of chocolate chips are Guittard and Ghirardelli. I also love to throw in some chunks of chocolate from the Trader Joe’s Pound Plus Bar.
- Bake just until lightly golden. Don’t overbake as the cookies will continue to bake after being removed from the oven.

Equipment
Ingredients
- 4 Tablespoons Salted Butter (melted)
- 4 Tablespoons Brown Sugar
- 2 Tablespoons Sugar
- 1 Egg Yolk
- 1/4 teaspoon Vanilla
- 1/2 cup Flour
- 1/4 teaspoon Baking Soda
- 1/3 cup Chocolate Chips
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a microwave-safe bowl, heat butter for about 30 seconds in the microwave until melted. Stir in brown sugar and sugar and stir well until the sugars begin to dissolve and the mixture becomes smooth.
- Add egg yolk and vanilla and stir well.
- Fold in flour and baking soda and stir together. Fold in chocolate chips.
- Drop cookie dough onto a parchment paper lined baking sheet. This will make two to three cookies, depending on size. I suggest a light-colored baking sheet for all of my cookie recipes. Bake for 8-10 minutes. Don't overbake as the cookies will continue to bake on the warm cookie sheet once removed from the oven.

Make them exactly as the recipe states. They are perfect just as they are. I get 10 good size cookies from one batch.
I ended up, replacing some of the flower with cocoa powder and adding in some red food dye and a little extra salt to the dry ingredients to make them red velvet cookies, and it turned out quite exquisite. I recommend it.
these came out so good and are so easy to make with simple steps and ingredients!
Recipe is good but the sugar amount makes them tad too sweet I think! (I put 2 brown sugar, 1 and a half sugar)
It’s crispy outside and chewy inside. Satisfied my craving for a while. Thanks for the recipe!
Hey love this recipe but the 2nd time I made them the dough was very crumbly & not as easy to form a cookie with, should I add a little more butter? Or would a whole egg help? Not sure what I did since the 1st time they came out so amazing. Any help is appreciated ๐
You probably either used a different kind of flour or measured differently, or maybe find combination of those. But yes, you could probably fix by adding more butter!
This is the best chocolate chip cookie recipe. I make lots of chocolate chip cookies. I would recommend this. Absolutely amazing.
This is my favorite cookie recipe – have made it several times when I cave and give in to my cravings. It’s fast, delicious and simple and you don’t overeat because it only makes 4 medium or 2 GIANT cookies. I almost always have the ingredients at hand. The dough alone is way too delicious and I have to stop myself from snacking from it. The dough is best left to rest at least a day in the fridge, 3 days is better. The flavors develop and mesh and become deliciously, sexy friends.
Hi Tammy! Thank you for your kind review! I make these ALL of the time as well. I actually made this recipe 2 nights in a row. It is perfect when my husband and I are craving cookies and don’t want to make a huge batch…plus it is super quick and easy! So glad you love them too and thank you for taking the time to leave a review.
Just replaced the butter with dairy free butter and was still delicious! Quick & way Sunday night treat!
Wow amazing! Best cookies ever but i just added 4 tbsps of brown sugar and omitted the 2 tbsps of white sugar because it sounded too sweet and this was the perfect amount!
delicious, but mine were greasy. i would definitely make these again.
Um WOW, these were so good. I did not have chocolate chips but I did have an 85% chocolate bar in my pantry. Half of the bar was enough for this recipe and the result was a nice chewy chocolate “chip” cookie. This is the perfect recipe if you live alone and can’t make a large batch.
