Candy Bar Blondies Instructions:
This is a one bowl cookie bar recipe so you don’t even need a stand mixer or hand mixer. It is so easy!
- In a microwave safe bowl, melt butter in the microwave until melted. I suggest reducing the microwave power so the butter doesn’t splatter. You may also melt the butter in a saucepan.
- Add brown sugar and sugar. Whisk or stir vigorously until smooth about 2-3 minutes. Add egg and vanilla and whisk until smooth.
- Stir in flour, baking soda, and salt.
- Fold in 1 cup of chopped candy bars, reserving most of the chocolate candy bars to place on the top when the blondies are finished baking.
- Spread in a 8 x 8 baking pan. I suggest lining the pan with parchment paper as it makes it easier to remove and cut the candy bar cookie bars.
- Bake just until a light golden brown color. DO NOT OVERBAKE. While the cookie bars are baking, prepare the chocolate candy bars. You may keep some of the candy bars whole and some you can chop or slice into bite-size pieces.
- Place the candy bars all over the top of the baked cookie bars. If you don’t want them to melt, wait 5 minutes before placing on the cookie bars and immediately place in the freezer.
Two tips for easy cutting dessert bars:
- Place the candy bar cookie bars in the freezer for about 20-25 minutes before slicing.
- Use a plastic knife! A simple plastic knife glides well and makes clean cuts.
How to store Candy Bar Blondie Bars:
Keep in an airtight container at room temperature of place in the freezer in a Ziploc freezer safe bag. These will store in the freezer for several months.
